Electricians and meter readers: how to detect a real specialist and avoid a fake one?

Recently, there have been cases of fraud, when people, mainly elderly people, are visited by persons who introduce themselves as DTEK Dnipro Grids workers. They say that they need to “check electric heating projects”, or offer to sell day/night meters, and so on.

We urge our customers to be vigilant. Please, be reminded that our workers have a DTEK Dnipro Grids corporate ID card. At the same time, there are only two categories of employees who can come to houses and apartments.

• Meter readers are employees who record customer meter readings at regular intervals. These workers are not required to wear DTEK Dnipro Grids workwear. But they must have a corporate ID card issued by DTEK Dnipro Grids. It contains company logo, number, full name, employee's photo, position, stamp, and validity period;

If there is no such ID card, then the customer has every reason not to let such a person inside. When everything is ok with the documents, the customer, in accordance with the law, is obliged to provide the meter reader with access to the meter.

• Electricians who are engaged in connection (disconnection), replacement of meters and the other services related to the electricity distribution. Such specialists must wear overalls (jacket) with the DTEK Dnipro Grids logo. They must also have a corporate ID card issued by DTEK Dnipro Grids with them. If there is no such corporate ID card, then a customer has every reason not to let this person into his house;
