DTEK Dnipro Grids energy workers ensured electricity supply to the new waterworks after the demolition of Kakhovka HPP
In late August, residents of the Dnipropetrovsk region that were affected by the demolition of Kakhovka HPP have received water from the main waterworks Inhulets-Pivdenne for the first time. In order to power it, DTEK Dnipro Grids energy workers had to promptly upgrade equipment and replace a transformer at the 35 kV substation. The existing transformer was replaced with a more powerful one that could ensure electricity supply to the pump station of the new waterworks.
“DTEK is a reliable partner of society and state. Realizing the need to urgently provide residents of the Dnipropetrovsk region with water, we concentrated all our efforts on prompt energization of the new waterworks. Currently, we have completed upgrade of the high-voltage substation, which will provide electricity to one part of the new waterworks. To solve this task, we have replaced a 2.5 MVA transformer with the one almost three times more powerful – 6.3 MVA. This will help provide the waterworks with electricity required, and residents of the Kryvyi Rih district – with long-awaited water,” – informed DTEK Dnipro Grids.
A transformer weighing over 14 tons was delivered from Dnipro. Its installation required an auto crane. Mounting and setup of equipment at the substation was carried out by 4 crews of specialists.
The replacement activities lasted two days. In order not to leave 1,500 residents of Shyroke and Novolativka communities without electricity during this period of time, DTEK Dnipro Grids has installed 10 generators of 30 to 140 kWt capacity. They were brought by the trucks from nine districts of the region. 17 specialists have been installing and connecting generators, energizing lines and 13 transformer substations turn by turn.
Overall, the works involved 8 crews and 7 additional items of DTEK Dnipro Grids machinery.
