22 energy workers and 7 items of machinery of DTEK Odesa Grids went to restore electric infrastructure of Kherson, destroyed due to the attack of russian invaders. These were the crews of the industrial vehicles and high-voltage grids operation department.

DTEK Odesa Grids energy workers have united in order to help repair the grids and equipment in the Kherson region that went out of order due to the unlawful actions of russian invaders. Our guys went to Kherson twice. In order to provide residents of Kherson with water, DTEK specialists have restored operation of the 150 kV high-voltage line, put into operation a subscriber substation that was out of order for a while due to the flooding after destruction of Kakhovka HPP,informed the company.

Energy workers have been working in the extremely difficult conditions to the sounds of explosions as the enemy continues to shell Kherson from the left bank of the Dnipro river. During the first trip to the Kherson region, the specialists completed their work 10 days prior to the planned date, replacing almost three kilometers of the damaged high-voltage line that runs through the river and replacing the destroyed steel support with the reinforced concrete one, thus making it possible to restore operation of the critical infrastructure facilities and providing residents of the Kherson region with water.

For security reasons, they worked in bulletproof vests and hardhats, despite the hellish air temperature. The hardest part was crossing the river. Together with the Kherson Military Administration they have engaged motorboats. We realized that we are under the watchful eye of the enemy, as the frontline is less then 3 kilometers away, recalls Oleksandr Buhor, head of the high-voltage grids repair and operation center.

Let us remind that in August 2023, the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko and the head of Odesa RMA Oleh Kiper awarded four energy workers of DTEK Odesa Grids with the Certificate of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the breast badge “For excellence in energy industry”. Departmental awards were given for courage during restoration of power supply in the Kherson region and for personal contribution to provision of Ukrainians with electricity during the war.
