Energy workers of Kyiv have joint training with rescue services of the capital to prepare for all challenges of the heating season
Training was conducted as part of measures to prepare the electrical infrastructure of the capital for the heating season in the conditions of martial law. In October, DTEK specialists and SES in Kyiv will conduct 28 training sessions related to elimination of emergencies.
Energy workers together with rescuers practiced a training emergency shutdown of the transformer substation in one of the Kyiv districts. An operational and coordination center, ensuring interaction between specialists of various services, has been deployed at the scene of a call. Together, they carried out emergency response actions on electricity supply equipment and matters related to quick supply of electricity to buildings and structures, important for the city. Overall, 9 pieces of special machinery and 40 specialists were engaged in the first training session.
“DTEK Grids is a basis and support for normal life of the country and Ukrainians. That is why, the company not only promptly restores power supply once it becomes possible but also strives to do everything possible to prevent crisis situations. The purpose of this training is to practice dealing with issues that can occur in the autumn-winter period during increased electricity demand in the conditions of martial law. In October, DTEK Kyiv Grids specialists, together with State Emergency Service units in the city of Kyiv, will conduct 28 more joint training sessions related to coordination of actions in emergency situations,” – informed DTEK Kyiv Grids.
During the training, energy workers provided assistance in setting up the equipment of emergency and rescue units. They have tested compatibility of portable generators in the possession of rescue services with equipment of DTEK Kyiv Grids. A total of 68 specialists of the company will undergo the training.
As informed earlier, as part of preparation of the capital for winter, DTEK Kyiv Grids will upgrade over 600 power facilities of the capital. This will make it possible to improve reliability of power supply to residents, institutions and enterprises of the city during the increased electricity demand period. DTEK Kyiv Grids also gave advices to condominiums and housing offices on how to prepare grids of multistoried buildings for winter, as serviceability of networks inside the multistoried buildings is one of the components of power supply reliability.
