DTEK Dnipro Grids, in cooperation with the city administration, completed a comprehensive modernization of the energy infrastructure in Pivdennyi District of Kamianske. Before the start of the heating season, DTEK checked how the upgraded system would cope with conditions of increased energy loads. To accomplish this, the networks and electrical equipment of BAM and Sotsgorod were tested on October 2-3.

Testing took place on the night of 2 October. The previous day, BAM and Sotsgorod residents were asked to load the system as much as possible: turn on all available electric heaters, which they will use in winter. During the tests, two teams of DTEK Dnipro Grids were on duty all night. The company’s specialists recorded the level of loads in the power grid every hour, as well as checked the operation of lines, transformer and distribution substations.

«DTEK serves the interests of Ukraine, and systematically improves the quality of power supply to its clients. Sustained efforts have been made this year to upgrade the Pivdennyi District energy infrastructure in Kamianske: they replaced the equipment of substations and switchboards, laid new cables, and overhead lines. The check showed that the load level on the systems increased 1.5 times. Automatic limiters did not trip at any of 22 transformer substations. This is a good indicator, and we have time to adjust the system before the start of the heating season,» says Nikolay Shumeiko, Head of the Kamianske District Power Grids of DTEK Dnipro Grids.

As previously reported, the city council of Kamianske allocated UAH 14 million for the program to increase the contractual capacity in apartments of Pivdennyi District residents. 198 multi-storey buildings were involved in the modernization program. Each of more than 6,800 apartments was provided with additional capacities from 1 to 2 kW. To this end, DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists upgraded switchboards in houses, replaced circuit breakers, and connected smart meters. They also installed more efficient equipment in 16 transformer substations, and laid 30 km of new overhead and cable lines to the houses.
