People in the Dnipropetrovsk region will pay less for electricity. Starting this year, DTEK Dnipro Grids has installed another 60,500 smart meters in customers' homes. They are doing this for free for people in the region. At the same time, thanks to such meters, people can save money and time, because the meter reports the electricity consumption readings to the Distribution System Operator (DSO) automatically.

DTEK Dnipro Grids consistently implements automation and digitalization technologies to turn Ukraine’s networks into a reliable, flexible, and sustainable Smart Grid infrastructure. Smart meters are the foundation for building smart grids in Ukraine. Currently, new day/night meters have already been installed in homes of 60,500 families in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Kamensky, Nikopol and other cities of the region. By the end of the year, another 6,500 customers will have such electricity meters.

“DTEK invests in digital transformation, new technologies and innovations. This year we have nearly doubled the number of smart meters installed thanks to the transition to the investments stimulating RAB tariff. In total, we will install 67,000 meters by the end of the year. Thus, 27% of our customers will use smart meters. And in 9 years, according to our plans, all 100% of the region's residents will get new smart meters for free,” says Andriy Tereshchuk, Head of DTEK Dnipro Grids.

DTEK Dnipro Grids is installing smart meters as part of its investment programs. First, in residential buildings with obsolete devices of poor accuracy. Installation of such a meter will be free of charge for a customer.

Currently, there are more than 344,000 smart meters in the Dnipropetrovsk region. This is one of the highest numbers among the DSOs in the country. By the end of 2021, there will be 351,000 of them.

Smart meters automatically submit readings, which saves the customer’s time. There is no need to report this data to the company through online services or a call center. In addition, the new meters offer savings in day and night energy use, which can significantly reduce electricity costs for users*.

You can find the addresses of buildings where such meters are installed on the company's website. Please, allow the DTEK Dnipro Grids representatives inside (if the meter is in the apartment) to do the job.

Andrey Tereshchuk's comments on how and why DTEK Dnipro Grids installs smart meters can be found here.

* Optionally, a customer can use the night saving tariff, terms of which can be found on the NEURC website.
