DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists restored service to the homes of 13,500 families, left without electricity due to severe weather

Since last night, the weather in Dnipropetrovsk region has been severe with squally wind and rain. Complication of weather conditions caused damage of lines and mass accidents. Most blackouts happened in Novomoskovsk, Kamianske and Dnipro districts. Over the course of the day, DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists have restored power to 13,500 families and they continue working in order to completely restore service to every home.

Severe weather and wind squalls caused blackouts and breaking of 19 lines and 266 transformer substations. Most blackouts are in Novomoskovsk, Kamianske and Dnipro districts. 13,500 customers in 27 settlements of the region’s rural area remain without electricity.

Due to complication of weather conditions, DTEK Dnipro Grids emergency crews were transferred to the boost mode and are working 24/7 in order to restore damaged sections of lines as soon as possible. Emergency elimination activities involved 15 crews of electricians and 15 pieces of machinery. During the day, energy workers managed to restore service to most of the customers. 5 settlements (468 families) remain partially without electricity. The plan is to complete restoration of power supply by the end of the day 12.04.22

Specialists’ work is complicated by the adverse weather conditions. However, they keep working to restore power as soon as possible.

According to weather forecasts, showers and thunderstorms will hold for the next few days. DTEK Dnipro Grids repair crews are transferred to the emergency response and restoration operating mode and are ready to promptly restore service in case of blackouts. Workers have specific guidelines related to working in emergencies and are provided with everything needed to restore operation of equipment in case of damage, caused by hostilities.

DTEK Dnipro Grids asks residents to be careful, stay away from bare wires, broken lines, open doors and hatches of electrical installations, as well as damaged poles and trees.
