DTEK Donetsk Grids specialists came under fire during repair of equipment

Two crews of DTEK Donetsk Grids specialists came under fire during performance of repairs at the substation in Volnovakha district. Shell fragments damaged an aerial platform. Fortunately, energy workers managed to start it and leave the shelling zone unharmed. Shelling in the Donetsk region continues, constantly complicating work of DTEK Donetsk Grids emergency and restoration crews. Nevertheless, specialists of the energy company continue to repair the grids once it becomes possible and restore electricity to residents of the Donetsk region.
DTEK Donetsk Grids specialists came under fire during repair of equipment

Two DTEK Donetsk Grids crews got the task to conduct repairs at one of substations that regularly suffers from enemy shelling. After obtaining a permit for work performance from the military, specialists went to the site and commenced work. In just 15 minutes, they heard first hit and burst of the enemy shell. Our specialists managed to hide and wait out the shelling.  

The vehicle is damaged: it got several fragmentation hits that caused electricity failure. However, energy workers managed to start it and leave the shelling zone. 

The situation in the Donetsk region remains difficult. Shelling continues. Therefore, crews of energy workers often come under fire during performance of restoration activities. Since the beginning of a full-scale invasion and until today, 7 energy workers have been wounded when performing repairs. Besides, 17 company’s vehicles (cranes, aerial platforms, etc.) have been damaged, 270 vehicles have been lost at the temporary occupied territories. 

Despite all difficulties and constant threat, energy workers continue to work and restore electricity to residents of the Donetsk region immediately after obtaining a permit for work performance from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 

DTEK Donetsk Grids specialist are working non-stop for 565 days in a row and repair equipment and lines once it becomes possible.
