DTEK Grids’ CEO Ivan Gelyukh has been elected a co-chairperson of the Energy Community Coordination Group
The involvement of DTEK Grids in the coordination group of the international electricity association will afford the company an opportunity to adopt the best European practices and engage international expertise in the formation of the new electricity market in Ukraine.
“Today, all Ukrainian distribution companies are going through a transformation. DTEK is the first company that has been pursuing a systematic approach in accordance with the requirements of the new Law of Electricity Market and transforming oblenergoes into a modern electricity supply and distribution companies. This is why it is crucially important for us to know the experience of the states - members of the Energy Community. The improvement of electricity supply is a major concern for entire Europe, as it creates numerous new challenges such as the development of smart grids and work with prosumers. The engagement in the ECDSO-E Coordination Group will provide DTEK with an opportunity to receive valuable knowledge and experience, reform its own energy infrastructure, and promote changes on the national level”, noted Ivan Gelyukh, CEO of DTEK Grids.
Ivan Gelyukh further added that an interaction with the Energy Community will also help the company create the most efficient solutions and services for its clients.
The Energy Community is an international organization established between the European Union and a number of third countries that signed the Energy Charter Treaty. The Energy Charter Treaty was created as a mechanism for cooperation between the Western and the Eastern Europe in energy matters, and it was signed by 51 states in Europe and Asia. The signatories undertook to strive for the establishment of a broader European energy market and improved efficiency of operation of the global energy market by applying joint or coordinated efforts in accordance with the Charter. Ukraine joined the Energy Community on 24 September 2010.
