Ready for winter: DTEK Odesa Grids prepared the network for stable operation in the autumn and winter season

DTEK Odesa Grids prepared the Odesa city energy infrastructure for the autumn and winter season 2021-2022. In particular, the company reconstructed the Chumka substation, upgraded the Krymskaya substation, and is about to complete the construction of the Chubaevka substation. They also have laid, repaired, and cleared of vegetation about 155 km of power transmission lines. This will reduce the number of failures and provide half a million of the company's customers with a stable power supply during peak network loads.

For electrical equipment to work reliably and without interruption during the cold season, DTEK Odesa Grids prepares the network in advance. Thus, during the year the company carried out repairs and upgrades of power facilities. Particular attention was paid to key facilities that will help withstand peak loads on the network when a lot of people switch on heaters and other powerful electrical appliances simultaneously during the low temperature season

“DTEK is a reliable and responsible company. We usually get ready for peak loads in advance. This year, within the Big Network Renovation project, the company reconstructed the Chumka substation, modernizes the Krymskaya substation, about to complete the construction of the Chubaevka substation, and is laying a new 110 kV Chumka-Chubaevka underground cable line. We do this to provide our customers with a reliable and uninterrupted power supply,” says Oleksandr Fomenko, General Director for DTEK Odesa Grids.

Odesa energy company has already invested 470 million hryvnia to prepare the city's networks for the autumn and winter season 2021-2022. These funds were used to lay 23 kilometers of 6/10 kV cable lines and 22 kilometers of 6/10 and 0.4 kV overhead lines, install 7 unloading transformer substations and 18 reclosers on 10 kV lines, reconstruct 8 distribution points and upgrade substations in various parts of the city.

In turn, the company notes that in addition to the equipment of distribution networks (transformer substations and distribution stations, cable, and overhead lines), which are serviced by DTEK Odesa Grids, there are also in-house networks. Owners of detached houses should deal with them and prepare them for peak power consumption. If you live in a high-rise apartment building, management companies, housing services, condominiums, and other service organizations are responsible for them. The reliability of power supply depends on their technical condition.
