Oleksandr Fomenko, CEO of DTEK Odesa Grids tells how the energy infrastructure of the region is being upgraded

DTEK is a conscious and reliable company that contributes to the development of the region's energy infrastructure. Oleksandr Fomenko, CEO at DTEK Odesa Grids, talks about the company's investments into the power grids of Odesa and Odesa Region during an online meeting within the framework of the #SpitayProSvitlo (#AskAboutLight) project.

On June 2, DTEK Odesa Grids CEO held the first live Facebook broadcast of the #SpitayProSvitlo (#AskAboutLight) online meeting, where experts in the energy industry answer questions from people.

DTEK is a business that serves the Ukraine’s interests. In 2021, DTEK Odesa Grids will earmark UAH 821 million of investments to modernize the networks of Odesa and the region, thus updating the energy infrastructure of the region. This is 42% more funds than in 2020,” says Oleksandr Fomenko, CEO at DTEK Odesa Grids.

Investments will be aimed at improving the quality of energy supply to customers to comply with the planned indicators established by NEURC, the state regulator, such as reducing electricity losses in power grids and the SAIDI indicator (power outage time). According to NEURC requirements, after 13 years of operation under incentive tariff setting, the time of power outage for customers should be reduced from the current 1,117 min/year to 150 min/year for the urban areas and 300 min/year for rural areas. And the level of electricity losses - from 12% to 7.5%.

In 2020, DTEK Odesa Grids completed the reconstruction of two substations "Yubileynaya" and "Bolgrad" in the south of the region, upgraded the substations "Marinovka" and "Ilyinka" in Odesa District. The plans for 2021 are to complete the construction of the Chubaevka substation, the reconstruction of the Krymskaya and Chumka substations, to begin the reconstruction of the YuZR and Izmail substations, and also to start a new construction of the 110kV Chumka-Chubaevka cable line. In addition to the construction and reconstruction of these large substations, the company's energy workers will also do some work at 117 facilities of medium and low voltage.

During the live broadcast, Oleksandr Fomenko also answered questions from residents of the region regarding the call center, scheduled maintenances, and voltage problems. See the full video recording of #SpitayProSvitlo here.
