Carrying out repairs without cutting off the power supply: DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists share their experience with colleagues
DTEK Dnipro Grids began testing the technology for carrying out repairs without cutting off the power supply last year. The company’s specialists underwent training in Poland, after which they trained colleagues in the field. The company purchased protective equipment and special tools and launched a pilot project in Mahdalynivka, and later — in other districts of the region.
The benefits of the new technology were clear. This is as comfortable as possible for customers since it allows not to cutting off an entire street or a multi-storey building for work and does not inconvenience for residents. This significantly saves time for repairs. The work is completely safe, which is confirmed by European experience. Since the beginning of the project, 7,550 tasks have already been completed in the region using the new technology.
‘DTEK is changing the standards of customer service in Ukraine acting in the interests of its customers. Emergency and scheduled repairs are an important component of the company’s activities, which allows us to guarantee the stable operation of the energy infrastructure of the entire Dnipropetrovsk Region. We have already learned how to do them without cutting off the power supply. The technology was taught to us by Polish specialists. More than 800 employees of DTEK Dnipro Grids have already mastered it. Now several types of work — such as line repairs and connection to grids — are carried out without cutting off the power supply. And we are ready to share our experience with our colleagues from other DSOs,’ said Andrii Tereshchuk, General Director of DTEK Dnipro Grids.
The training was held at the DTEK Dnipro Grids training ground in Mezhyrich village. 27 specialists from Distribution System Operators (DSO) from Kyiv, Odesa, and Donetsk Regions took part in the program. During the 2-day training under the guidance of experienced instructors, they practiced working without cutting off the power supply on 0.4 kV overhead lines as well as electricity metering boards. The skills they acquired will help to introduce the method of working without cutting off the power supply in other regions and to expand the practice of using European technology in Ukraine.
