Career opportunities for youth: DTEK Odesa Grids has a dual education program in place

In the 2020-2021 school year, DTEK Odesa Grids is implementing a dual education program, involving 21 students. Since 2020, the company has been cooperating with the Odesa National Polytechnic University, Odesa National Academy of Food Technologies, Odesa Institute of Computer Technologies of the Odesa State Ecological University, and Izmail Agrotechnical College. A professional mentor is assigned to each program participant who offers guideline at all stages of the training practical part. We have concluded tripartite agreements with students for getting education in a dual form, as well as fixed-term employment agreements. Every month they receive an official salary and a social package that is provided for all employees of DTEK Odesa Grids.

Students who participate in the dual training program of DTEK Odesa Grids undergo training in the structural divisions holding the positions of an electrician, engineer, specialist, electrician.

DTEK is a conscious and reliable company that cares about the future of Ukraine and supports talented youth. 21 students from four specialized educational institutions in Odesa and the region took part a dual training program in the 2020-2021 academic year. Now students are practicing in the Central, Northern, Southern Distribution Zone of Odesa, in Izmail Distribution Zone in Odesa Region and in other specialized services. 70% of students have already acquired the second group on electrical safety and can work with special equipment,” said Oleksandr Fomenko, General Director of DTEK Odesa Grids.

Dual education implies the combination of training at a university and at an enterprise. A student gets 70% of the practice in the enterprise and 30% of the theory in the educational institution. The program is based on the consolidation of the acquired knowledge within the manufacturing conditions. Dual education prepares future workers at the request of the employer. After graduation, students are adapted and can work with the equipment of a particular enterprise. Andrii Novitskiy, one of the dual program participants, is successfully undergoing training and working for the company.

“I chose the dual form of training because it is a unique opportunity to work out theoretical knowledge in practice, gain experience, and, what is important, my first salary. As part of training at the enterprise, together with classmates, we study health and safety, rules for the operation of electrical protective equipment, etc. I am sure that working at DTEK is a good start for my future career,” says Andrii Novitskiy, electrician for the distribution grids operation at DTEK Odesa Grids.

In order to take part in the DTEK Odesa Grids dual training program in the future 2021-2022 school year, a student should be getting an education in an energy-related specialty, be a 2-4 year student of one of the educational institutions that has entered into an agreement with the company, fill out a questionnaire and be pre-qualified.
