Smart Meters To Be Installed for Kyiv Residents Free of Charge: Numbers and Locations of Meters Announced by DTEK Kyiv Grids

By the end of 2020, the specialists of DTEK Kyiv Grids will replace electricity meters for more than 28 thousand customers free of charge. Old metering devices will be replaced with new and modern ones which help save money. Power engineers call Kyiv residents for allowing employees of the energy company into their apartments to perform installation works and tell how to make sure that they are being visited by an employee from DTEK.

DTEK takes care of its customers. Therefore, it systematically upgrades the capital’s electric grids. In particular, it installs smart meters free of charge helping to save money. In total, almost 185 thousand such devices are already in operation in Kyiv. By the end of the year, their number will increase by 28 thousand. In 2020, the company will invest almost 22 million hryvnias in replacing old electricity meters with new ones,” said Maris Kunickis, CEO of DTEK Kyiv Grids.

In order to get a new meter, two simple conditions should be fulfilled. First of all, living in buildings included in the replacement program. It is formed at the beginning of the year and approved by the national regulator – NEURC. Secondly, to allow the specialists of DTEK Kyiv Grids enter the apartment for conducting installation works.

Before carrying out the installation works, the specialists of DTEK Kyiv Grids inform the residents in advance. They place advertisements in houses indicating the date of the replacement and the contact phone number of the company’s person in charge. The works are performed by the employees dressed in branded overalls with the name of the company on it. Upon request of a customer, electricians must produce the appropriate IDs.

All electricity meters planned for free installation will allow, at customers’ option, to take advantage of the night-time tariff (which is half-price). For this, immediately after installation, it is required to contact the energy company with a request so that the meter is properly configured.

Till the end of July, new electricity meters will be installed for the residents of capital’s houses by the following addresses:
