Gusty wind that swept through the territory of Ukraine on October 28 led to significant damage to the power lines. Fallen trees caused damage to 441 overhead lines and almost 10,000 transformer stations. 250 crews of energy workers of the DTEK Grids Distribution System Operators have been working round-the-clock for two days in order to eliminate consequences of bad weather. Over the course of two days, they have restored electricity to 438,000 customers in the settlements of Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions. Restoration of electricity is currently ongoing in Donetsk and Kyiv regions.

Kyiv region was affected by bad weather the most. Here, 399 power lines were damaged, 9,343 transformer stations went off. In two days, energy workers restored electricity to 330,000 families.

The situation with restoration of power supply in the Donetsk region is extremely difficult. Artillery shelling and missile strikes slow the progress of energy workers’ work. Nevertheless, energy workers managed to restore electricity to 63,000 families in 147 settlements.

Energy workers in the Dnipropetrovsk region were the first ones to cope with consequences of the gusty wind. By Monday morning, electricity has been restored to a total of 45,000 families. Energy workers restored operation of more than 500 transformer substations and 42 power lines, thus restoring electricity to 115 settlements that were completely or partially disconnected from electricity.

“DTEK Grids Distribution System Operators support normal life of Ukrainians. Energy workers directed all efforts to promptly eliminate consequences of bad weather. In just 2 days, we have restored electricity to home of 438,000 customers in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions. We now continue processing specific customer requests and eliminating minor local damages. These works are complicated by enemy shelling in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Nevertheless, specialists of the energy company, while following safety rules, were able to not just promptly eliminate emergencies caused by the weather, but also restore electricity to Ukrainians after shelling,” – informed DTEK Grids press service
