DTEK Odesa Grids “Mobile crews” are preparing the energy infrastructure of Odesa and Odesa region for winter
This year's autumn-winter heating season will be one of the hardest in the past 30 years due to the war and significant damage of the power facilities. DTEK Odesa Grids is preparing the entire energy system of city and region for winter, including with the help of “Mobile crews”.
The energy infrastructure of the region is currently 90% ready for the cold season. In particular, DTEK Odesa Grids has upgraded 890 transformers substations and distribution points, repaired over 1,300 km of various voltage level power lines, inspected 209 critical infrastructure facilities of the city — hospitals, schools, kindergartens, thermal power facilities and housing and communal services facilities, in order to ensure reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply to our customers.
“DTEK Odesa Grids is a responsible business, partner of society and state. Despite the threat of missile strikes, we have completed laying the cable line and put into operation one of the high-voltage substations in Odesa that powers over five thousand customers, we are reconstructing two more high-voltage substations and constructing new 35 kV power lines. It is a big piece of work for DTEK energy workers and contribution to the stable 2022-2023 autumn-winter period,” – underscored the Head of DTEK Odesa Grids Dmytro Hryhoriev.
In order to prepare for winter in time, DTEK Odesa Grids has implemented a “Mobile crews” project. A mobile application and software that allows specialists to give up unnecessary paperwork and plan their shift more efficiently. Since September 2022, the “Mobile crews” project has been implemented throughout the Odesa region.
“DTEK continues to develop the grids using modern digital technologies and based on the sustainable development principles. 209 crews are already working in the new format. Every day, our specialists save an hour of papers-filling time, and, correspondingly, conduct repairs in the grid faster, thus reducing time that our customers spend without electricity during emergency shutdowns,” – explained Marharyta Zhukova, head of the operational technologies department at DTEK Grids.
Specialists come to the site with work tablets and specifically installed application, where they receive assignments, register discovered defects and report about the work completed. IT application allows them to save time on filling various paper forms and, thus, to faster eliminate emergencies and restore electricity to customers’ homes.
According to preliminary estimates, application of such program reduces time of repair by 10-15%.
Defects, discovered during equipment check, are immediately registered in the database. It helps eliminate them more promptly, preventing equipment failure and emergencies. As a result, repairs are conducted faster and customers receive quality service.
The software complex is composed of two products. A mobile app was developed by the DTEK expert center of digital technologies. While MRS planning panel – by SAP, a world leader in development of software solutions for business.
