DTEK removed a high-voltage line to make room for ship cranes, which were used to rebuild the collapsed bridge on the Chertomlyk River
The whole activity took about 5 hours. A 600-meter section of a 35 kV high-voltage line, which runs 10 meters above the water, was de-energized and disconnected on one of the banks. The de-energized wire was lowered under the water so that 2 ship cranes could pass this section smoothly. Then, using a cable and traction vehicles, the line was lifted over the river and reconnected.
“This is the second time we have done such unusual work. The first one was in the summer of 2020, when at the request of the Road Service the ship cranes came in for work. To minimize any inconvenience to the inhabitants of the Kapulovka village during the line disconnection, the backup circuits of the Nikopol United Distribution Zone network supplied power to their houses. They didn't even notice any change. Now, the power supply has been fully restored,” says Vladimir Kovalev, Head of Nikopol High-Voltage Grids at DTEK Dnipro Grids.
Let us recall that the bridge over the Chertomlyk river in the Nikopol District collapsed in May 2020 after a heavy truck crossed it. A new bridge on the section of the national highway H-23 "Kropyvnytskyi-Zaporozhye" was erected practically from scratch on the site of the collapsed bridge. The bridge was made of durable metal structures that can withstand the load of any heavy transport.
