Icy rain returned to the Donetsk region. The situation is complicated by strong wind and almost complete impossibility to drive outside towns. At night, another case of bad weather caused de-energization of 1,041 transformer substations, leaving homes of 89,000 families in 91 settlements without electricity. By the morning, electricity has been restored to 5,000 families in 9 settlements of the Donetsk region.

Icy rain and strong wind caused new outages in the Donetsk region. At night, bad weather caused de-energization of 1,041 transformer substations, as well as 24 lines of 110 kV and 38 lines of 35 kV.

By the morning, specialists of the energy company were able to restore operation of 48 transformer substations and restore power to 9 settlements, thus restoring electricity to homes of 5,000 families.

Weather conditions do not change, power outages continue.

First, specialists restore power to socially significant consumers – hospitals, waterworks, boiler houses, large areas with the largest number of de-energized houses and apartments. Also, a priority is given to the repair of 35-110 kV high-voltage lines, which power the majority of customers, then to 6-10 kV lines. And when high and medium voltage power facilities are restored, the specialists proceed to restoration of operation of 0.4 kV lines that provide power directly to customers' homes.

Bad weather is ongoing, and so do the hostilities. Energy workers will continue to work in the high alert mode until the electricity is restored wherever possible. However, we ask residents of the region to treat possible delays of restorations with understanding, as the scale of bad weather is large and it does not stop. Once we repair an energy joint, it goes off again.

79 crews of DTEK Donetsk Grids specialists and colleagues from Dnipro, Odesa and Kyiv region are working on restorations.

Additionally, please be reminded of the need to follow electrical safety rules:

  • do not stay near power lines during strong wind;
  • do not approach broken wire closer than 8-12 meters and never touch it;
  • If you see wires that fell to the ground, ruptured or sagging wires, open doors and hatches of electrical installations, as well as damaged poles, please, inform us via the energy company’s call center or via private messages on our Facebook;

If you have a power outage, please inform us about it in a convenient way: via remote service channels: DTEK Donetsk Grids website, company’s Facebook page. You can also contact the call center: +38 (093/099) 450 0 473, though it may take more time due to a large number of calls.

Energy workers are working 24/7 and doing everything possible to provide electricity to every home. Only together and with joint efforts will we be able to endure and overcome these dark times!
