New electrical mobile laboratory to help DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids return power to customers faster
The electrical laboratory based on the Peugeot van, which was added to the fleet of the Distribution System Operator in July, will serve Fastiv, Bila Tserkva and part of the Obukhiv district in the Kyiv region. The second laboratory, which the company purchased a year earlier, is already operating in Bucha and Vyshhorod districts of the Kyiv region.
Funds to buy more vehicles were provided in the DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids investment program in 2021, which was approved by the Regulator (NEURC). Thanks to the incentive RAB-tariffs, the investment program was increased 1.8 times compared to 2020: from UAH 343 million to UAH 618 million.
"DTEK cares about the future of Ukraine. We invest in the infrastructure across the Kyiv region and apply new automation technologies. Thanks to the new electrical laboratory, we will reduce the time to search for damaged sections of cable lines. This will allow DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids not only to eliminate failures faster, but also to repair problem areas in a timely manner,” says Vitaliy Shaida, General Director of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.
The new mobile laboratory will have combined functions. They will diagnose the equipment of substations of up to 110 kV, as well as to find damaged spots on 0.4-110 kV power cables. Such diagnostic equipment will reduce the time needed to find damage to power lines and identify defects in electrical equipment in advance, which can lead to emergency power outages at consumers. In addition, the mobile laboratory will allow diagnosing new generation cable lines with cross-linked polyethylene insulation, which DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids installs instead of paper-insulated cables.
