As a part of preparation for the autumn-winter period, energy workers have already repaired more than 5,000 facilities and 12,000 kilometers of the overhead and cable power lines, as well as upgraded and modernized 76 power facilities. These measures will improve reliability of power supply during the heating season.

Despite the ongoing war, the company implements all required measures to improve reliability of power supply in the region. Together with authorities of Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa regions and the city of Kyiv, the responsible services are preparing the infrastructure for possible challenges in order for the residents to have electricity and heating.

“Despite the ongoing full-scale enemy aggression, we are preparing our grids for winter. Energy workers repaired and tested almost 12,000 kilometers of the overhead and cable power lines and modernized 153 km of them. They have already upgraded 76 power facilities – substations, transformers. Besides, DSO cleared 7,800 kilometers of lines from branches, shrubs and drywood in order to prevent emergencies. DTEK was a reliable support of Ukrainians during the last autumn-winter period and is now doing everything possible to go through this winter, too,” – noted Alina Bondarenko, CEO at DTEK Grids.

But the work of energy workers does not stop when the heating season starts. By the end of the year, DTEK Grids Distribution System Operators in all regions plan to invest UAH 4.54 bln in upgrades, modernization and repairs of power facilities.

In the Donetsk region, all efforts of the DTEK Donetsk Grids Distribution System Operator are directed at restoration of grids and equipment after constant shelling. In particular, over nine months of 2024, energy workers repaired more than 2,100 power facilities, damaged due to hostilities, restored operation of almost 1,200 km of power lines, and cleared 527 km of power lines from branches.

DTEK will continue doing everything possible to provide Ukrainians with electricity despite shelling and missile strikes. We urge residents of the region to use electricity wisely: reschedule some consumption for the nighttime; install a multi-zone meter; replace lamps with energy-saving LED; give preference to household appliances with A, A+, A++, A+++ class of energy consumption; avoid using the air conditioner for heating or cooling of premises, where you are not present; turn on the lights only where you are currently present; avoid using several energy consuming devices simultaneously (iron, electric kettle, etc.) – turn them on in turns in order to distribute the load.
