DTEK Grids DSO have restored power to more than 85,000 Ukrainian families that suffered from shelling
Over the past week (August 22 through 28), specialists of the DTEK Grids Distribution System Operators have restored operation of the grids, damaged due to hostilities, for 66,000 families in 136 settlements of Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
The situation with hostilities in the Donetsk region remains extremely difficult. Every day, missile strikes, air assaults and artillery shelling destroy infrastructure of the grids and homes of residents almost all over the region. Nevertheless, energy workers continue to work and are doing everything possible to provide electricity to residents. Last week alone, DTEK electricians have restored electricity supply to almost 64,000 residents of the region in 108 settlements of Bakhmut, Kramatorsk and Pokrovsk districts. Most of these families required restoration of power supply on multiple occasions due to constant destruction of the grids.
Air assaults on the Dnipropetrovsk region become more and more frequent, damaging grids in Kryvyi Rih, Synelnykove and Nikopol districts of the region on a daily basis. Nevertheless, energy workers have restored power to 21,000 families in 52 settlements last week.
91 settlements in the Donetsk region and almost 8 settlements in the Dnipropetrovsk region remain without electricity. Energy workers are doing everything possible to restore electricity to them as soon as possible. Once the Armed Forces of Ukraine provide a permit, our specialists promptly restore operation of lines and substations, damaged due to hostilities.
DTEK energy workers are working non-stop under martial law for 187 days now and together with other services are doing everything possible to provide electricity to homes of Ukrainians.
Let us recall that preliminary estimates show that restoration of the grids in the Kyiv region to the pre-war level of power supply quality and reliability will require investing about 1 billion hryvnas.
Of which the company has already invested over 300 million hryvnas in restoration of electricity to residents of the Kyiv region immediately after liberation from occupants. Second stage of grids restoration – restoration of the backup power supply will require investing another UAH 600-700 mln in perspective of 2022-2023. It will help ensure reliable power supply of towns and villages, similar to the one prior to hostilities.
The company needs aid from government and international partners in the amount of about 1 billion hryvnas in order to fully restore infrastructure of the grids and develop it in accordance with the plan and needs of residents of the region.
