Before the start of the heating season, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids has completed modernization of five power facilities in the most energy-deficient districts of the region: Obukhiv, Bucha and Brovary. Equipment upgrade will help energy workers improve reliability of power supply for the residents and a number of socially important facilities. Despite the war in the country, DTEK continues to invest funds in the development of electrical infrastructure of the Kyiv region and prepare the region for winter.
Preparation for winter: DTEK modernized five power facilities for the most energy-deficient districts in the Kyiv region

DTEK energy workers have replaced electrical equipment at five power facilities in the Kyiv region with modern and more powerful one. They have constructed new lines, upgraded power transformers that exceeded their service life and were morally and physically obsolete or destroyed due to hostilities. Besides, they have replaced old oil circuit breakers with more environmental-friendly – vacuum ones, installed surge arrestors, reconstructed relay protection system, etc.

“Despite the war, DTEK Grids continues to create an infrastructure for rebuilding of Ukraine and recovery of economy. These works are directed at improving reliability of energy infrastructure before winter. Thanks to the construction of new lines and modernized substations, we have reduced emergency risks and improved reliability of the 110 and 10 kV grids that power all of the Kyiv region and, particularly, energy-deficient Obukhiv, Bucha and Brovary districts,” – pointed out Vitalii Shaida, CEO at DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.

In the Obukhiv energy joint, which is the most energy-deficient, energy workers have constructed and reconstructed four medium- and high-voltage lines. This allowed to improve power supply for more than 11,500 residential buildings and establishments in this part of the region before winter.

In Bucha and Brovary districts, energy workers completed reconstruction of two high-voltage substations that required modernization due to the growing demand for new electrical capabilities. Besides, these power facilities were damaged due to hostilities in the Kyiv region and required restoration. Reconstructed substations with advanced equipment will ensure reliable power supply to homes and critical infrastructure in Brovary and Bucha districts of the region.

Modernization of power facilities was carried out with the funds of the company’s investment program. Overall scope of investments in upgrades was almost 295 million hryvnas.

Let us remind that DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids has prepared the grids in the Kyiv region for winter in order to reduce probability of emergencies on the grids and pass the heating season easier. Energy workers, in the conditions of wartime, have upgraded almost 300 power facilities and 4,000 km of power lines.
