Why the company indicates the estimated time of an outage when performing scheduled maintenance? - answers Vitaliy Shaida, CEO of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids
The CEO of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids held the first live stream on Facebook on June 30 within the frame of #AskAboutTheLight project where the energy experts give answers to the customers’ questions.
Networks are one of the most important components of infrastructure. The length of networks is over 50,000 km in Kyiv Region. They require diagnosis and modernization. To do this, the company consistently carries out scheduled maintenance in the power grid. They usually work during the day from 8.00AM to 07.00PM. This is the time indicated in the notifications for customers. But this does not mean that the electricity will be turned off at exactly 8AM and will be turned on at exactly 7PM. This is indicative information for customers that during this period there may be no power supply.
“DTEK serves the Ukraine’s interests. We upgrade the region's networks and energy infrastructure so that each customer's home has lights on and comfort. When forming an outage plan, we give a margin of time in case of unforeseen situations. The duration of the actual outage can vary, depending on the work complexity and other technical factors that are impossible to predict. If the work is completed earlier, the power will be turned on immediately, not waiting until 7:00PM. Our energy workers try to complete the planned work as soon as possible and return the power to the residents. After all, they understand that any power outage, even a short one, causes inconvenience to customers," says Vitaliy Shaida, CEO at DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.
The head of the company also noted that if there is no power for some time due to the needed repairs, please treat this situation with understanding. It is better to tolerate inconveniences for a few hours than a much longer blackout because of a failure.
You can find out about the repair schedule on the DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids website in the Scheduled shutdowns section.
In addition, you can see the schedule of outages and report a failure in a convenient way: through the Merezhi Online mobile app (the app is available in the AppStore and Google Play Market), chatbot on Viber and Telegram or messages on the page DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids on Facebook.
During the live stream, Vitaliy Shaida also answered questions from residents of the region about who repairs and maintains networks that do not belong to the company. The full recording of the video #AskAboutTheLight can be seen here.
