The consequences of bad weather: DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids specialists have already restored power to 191 settlements and continue to work in the high alert mode

DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids specialists continue to eliminate consequences of bad weather that led to massive blackouts. Emergency crews are working in high alert mode since the beginning of bad weather in order to restore power to customers as soon as possible. As of the morning of June 22, specialists have restored operation of 87 lines and 2,689 transformer substations, thus completely restoring power to 69 settlements and partially – to 122.

Weather conditions in the Kyiv region have worsened on June 21. Squally wind, heavy rains and thunderstorms led to a complete de-energization of 76 settlements and partial de-energization of 134. As of this morning, 7 settlements remain completely without electricity and 12 — partially. Thunderstorm and wind gusts caused complete de-energization of 7 power lines 6-10 kV and partial de-energization of another 7 power lines, 120 transformer substations. Besides, fallen trees caused many breaks in the 0.4 kV grid that supplies power directly to the customers’ homes.

Most of the blackouts happened in Boryspil, Obukhiv, Vasylkiv and Tarashcha energy centers. Fallen poles and broken tree branches on the power lines complicate power restoration. The crews that work at the accident sites are doing everything possible to restore electricity to every home.
