DTEK Donetsk Grids has been implementing a dual education project since 2019. The company stablished cooperation with educational institutions that train specialists in the field of electric power and invited them to organize a dual education form for students, so that they could have an internship in the company in parallel with their training. Upon completion of training, graduates could become engineers, electricians, electricians and continue to work in their degree field.

“DTEK is a reliable and conscious company. We are transforming our business in accordance with the New DTEK-2030 Strategy, based on the principles of the ESG and business responsibility for achieving the goals of Sustainable Development of the UN Global Compact. The Dual Education project is an opportunity to support talented young people. As an employer company, we are interested in having more young professionals. Currently, 24 students of technical universities work and study at DTEK Donetsk Grids under the dual education program. We help to gain practical skills and professions in the energy industry. And after graduation, we offer the best students a full-time job in the company,” says Oleksii Degtyarev, CEO of DTEK Donetsk Grids.

DTEK is a signatory to the UN Global Compact. The dual education program meets the goals of this document. In particular, Goal 4, which ensures inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. And Goal 8, which promotes sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all. In Ukraine, the project was recognized as one of the best cases of business without barriers on the public platform ‘Diia.Business’ and is recommended for implementation by other companies in Ukraine.

Dual students gain knowledge per an individual program, under which they spend fifty percent of their time in classrooms at the university and dedicate fifty percent of their time to practice their skills in an enterprise. After graduation, students are adapted and can work with the equipment of a particular enterprise.

"Dual education is a great opportunity to try on a profession, a future job and, moreover, to get a salary. Of course, it is necessary to study the theory from books and textbooks. But while studying at the company, I see how all the processes that we learnt about in classrooms look like in real life. This is a very good experience, the most important stage in my life. In addition, I really like the team - all friendly and always help us, the young,"- says Vyacheslav Timofeev, a student of electrician at DTEK Donetsk Grids, who is trained under the Dual Education program this year.

Today, 10 students who studied under the dual education program have become employees at DTEK Donetsk Grids. In the 2021-2022 school year, the company plans to accept 20 more students.

To become a participant in the DTEK Donetsk Grids dual training program in the next 2021-2022 school year, a student should be getting an education in the energy field, be a final year student of one of the educational institutions that has entered into an agreement with the company, fill out a questionnaire and go through the selection process.
