Industry and population of the Dnipropetrovsk region are not provided with the required level of electricity due to low limits, – DTEK
Over the past week, the daily limit for electricity consumption by the Dnipropetrovsk region has been set to about 1,180 MWt. This is 53% of the entire region’s power need in the energy system’s normal operating conditions (2,200 MWt). Night limit is set to an average of 1,155 MWt.
The set limit is distributed between three key categories of consumers: households, industry and critical infrastructure.
In accordance with the abovementioned limit, 600 MWt of power (27%) goes to the critical infrastructure needs and associated connections, 250 MWt (11%) goes to the industry that performs important functions and cannot stop production processes. About 305-330 MWt of power (15%) remains for population and small business needs.
Considering such a limit in current weather conditions, DTEK Dnipro Grids applies the following schedule of stabilization shutdowns for household consumers: 5 after 4 (5 hours with electricity and 4 – without), but it has to significantly limit electricity consumption by large industrial enterprises, which work is extremely important at this time.
NPC Ukrenergo is responsible for formation of limits for each region. The Ministry of Energy monitors the appropriateness of these calculations for each region. The main task of the Distribution System Operator is to meet the set limits in order to maintain operation of the energy system in the conditions of power shortage.
In order to provide industry and population of the Dnipropetrovsk region with power required for stable operation, the Ministry and NPC Ukrenergo must review the approaches to limits formation.
