DTEK Dnipro Grids is using a new IT solution - the Mobile Crews software package. This is a mobile application and software that rules out unnecessary paperwork and facilitates employee work scheduling. Thanks to the IT solution, the company will be able to quickly carry out repairs on the network, which means that the residents of the region will spend less time without power during emergency outages.

Now, 222 teams of DTEK Dnipro Grids have already completed training in the Dnipropetrovsk region and are working with the new software. The project is already functioning in the Sinelnikovsky, Pavlohradsky, Novomoskovsky, Nikopol, Verkhnedneprovsky, Kamensky and Apostolovsky districts. The Mobile Crews members are doing repairs at transformer substations and power lines that directly power residential buildings, as well as on high voltage lines.

The energy workers arrive at the site with smartphones with a corresponding mobile application, using which they receive tasks, record identified defects and report on the work done. There is no more need to fill out various paper forms, which means they can quickly eliminate faults and return power to customers’ homes.

According to preliminary estimates, the repair time is reduced by 10-15% thanks to the use of such application.

«DTEK Dnipro Grids invests in digital transformation, new technologies and innovations. Currently, 195 mobile repair crews and 27 line inspection teams are using the new software. Thanks to the mobile application and software, our guys will be able to repair the network faster. This means that the residents of the region will spend less time without power during emergency outages. Soon, such mobile crews will operate in all districts of the region,» says Andrii Tereshchuk, General Director at DTEK Dnipro Grids.

Defects found during equipment inspection are immediately logged into the database. This helps to eliminate them more quickly, preventing equipment failure and emergencies. As a result, repairs are completed faster, and customers receive high-quality service.

By the end of the year, DTEK Dnipro Grids plans to purchase 350 mobile phones and train more than 400 crews in total, scaling the project to the entire Dnipropetrovsk region.

The software package consists of two products. The mobile application was developed by the DTEK digital technologies expert center. And the MRS planning panel was created by SAP, the world leader in the development of software solutions for business.

For reference

As previously reported, in 2021, DTEK Dnipro Grids is investing over UAH 1 billion in the electrical infrastructure of the Dnipropetrovsk region. The company will reconstruct two large substations of 150 and 35 kV in Dnipro and Manganets and implement 14 projects that will enhance the reliability of power supply for people of the region and the efficiency of emergency response.

In 2021, the company will invest about UAH 19 million in equipping a special 6-20 kV landfill and purchasing special tools, machinery, protective equipment, and equipment needed to train the energy workers to do hot line maintenances, meaning no power cuts for customers.

In addition, residents of Dnipro and the region will have 67,000 day/night meters installed. Smart meters automatically report readings of consumed electricity, which saves the customer’s time. He or she does not need to additionally submit this data to the company through online services or a call center. By the end of the year, 351,000 customers will be provided with them, i. e. every 4th family in the region.
