DTEK Grids performance in July: electricity restored to almost 500,000 families in three regions of Ukraine

Over the past month, specialists of the DTEK Grids Distribution System Operators have restored operation of the grids, damaged due to hostilities, for 478,000 families in 590 settlements of Donetsk, Odessa and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Mostly they have to repair grids, damaged by shelling, in the Donetsk region, where the most intense fighting is underway. Just in July, DTEK Donetsk Grids specialists have restored power to more than 457,000 residents of the region in 522 settlements of Bakhmut, Kramatorsk, Volnovakha and Pokrovsk districts. Many homes require restoration of electricity almost every day due to intense hostilities.

Enemy shelling was also damaging grids in the Dnipropetrovsk region. In July, energy workers have restored power to homes of 4,700 families. Works were carried out in 12 settlements of Kryvyi Rih and Nikopol districts.

Besides, enemy missiles have destroyed the grids infrastructure and caused blackouts in the Odessa region three times in July. DTEK Odessa Grids specialists have restored power to more than 3,000 families in 7 settlements of the region.

DTEK energy workers are working non-stop for 159 days in a row and together with all other services are doing everything possible to provide electricity to homes of Ukrainians.

Let us recall that restoration of power supply to the residents of districts in the Kyiv region that suffered from occupation was completed in May. Preliminary estimates show that restoration of the grids in the Kyiv region to the pre-war level of power supply quality and reliability will require investing about 1 billion hryvnas.

Of which the company has already invested over 300 million hryvnas in restoration of electricity to residents of the Kyiv region. Second stage of the grids restoration is ahead – restoration of the backup power supply that will help ensure reliable power supply of towns and villages, similar to the one prior to hostilities. In perspective of 2022-2023, it requires investing another UAH 600-700 mln. The company needs aid from government and international partners in the amount of about 1 billion hryvnas in order to fully restore infrastructure of the grids and develop it as per the plan and needs of residents of the region.
