Six months of fighting on the energy front: energy workers restored electricity to 3.6 mln homes of Ukrainians
In August, DTEK electricians have restored electricity to more than 344,000 families in 588 settlements, left without power due to shelling in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Since the beginning of a full-scale russian aggression in Ukraine, electricity has already been restored to 3.6 mln households in Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions, as well as in the city of Kyiv. Many of these families required restoration of electricity dozens of times due to frequent shelling.
The most damaged grids are the ones in the Donetsk region, where daily shelling leaves thousands of families without electricity. Over the past month alone, DTEK electricians have restored electricity to more than 271,000 families in 413 settlements of the region. In some settlements, energy workers have to perform restoration activities almost every day due to massive artillery shelling and air assaults. Since February 24, electricity has already been restored to homes of residents of the Donetsk region 2.7 mln times.
Shelling of the Dnipropetrovsk region becomes more and more active. Kryvyi Rih, Nikopol and Synelnykove districts frequently suffer from enemy attacks. In August, energy workers had to restore electricity to almost 72,000 families in 174 settlements of the region. Since the beginning of a full-scale invasion, power has been restored to almost 127,000 households.
DTEK energy workers are working non-stop for 190 days in a row and together with all other services are doing everything possible to provide electricity to homes of our customers.
Let us remind that preliminary estimates show that restoration of the grids in the Kyiv region to the pre-war level of power supply quality and reliability will require investing about 1 billion hryvnas.
Of which the company has already invested over 300 million hryvnas in restoration of electricity to residents of the Kyiv region immediately after its liberation from the occupants. Second stage of grids restoration is restoration of the backup power supply that will require another UAH 600-700 mln in perspective of 2022-2023. It will help ensure reliable power supply of towns and villages, similar to the one prior to hostilities.
The company needs aid from government and international partners in the amount of about 1 billion hryvnas in order to fully restore infrastructure of the grids and develop it according to the plan and needs of residents of the region.
