Environmental activities, rational use of resources, waste sorting and storage are the environmental management standards successfully applied by leading enterprises of European countries. DTEK Dnipro Grids, being a socially responsible business, has confirmed its compliance with the international standards ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System and ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System. TÜV SÜD is a European company that is one of the most trusted international certification bodies in the world with over 150 years of experience. As part of the audit, the auditors visited the structural units of DTEK Dnipro Grids and examined their work. In particular, they visited the Kryvyi Rih high-voltage networks, substation Vostochnaya-150, power networks of Krivoy Rih District, Sinelnikovsky District and Vasilkovsky District, as well as the Personnel Training and Development Center.

DTEK is a socially responsible business that consistently takes care of environment preservation and labor protection at its enterprises. Seven years ago, our company standardized systems in accordance with international standards ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.* Last year we were one of the first in Ukraine to switch to new standard ISO 45001:2018 relative to occupational health and safety. During the current supervisory audit, we have confirmed the status of a company with a high level of environmental awareness and safety,” says Andriy Tereshchuk, CEO of DTEK Dnipro Grids.

During the audit, the auditors analyzed how the environmental safety and occupational health system has been functioning since the international certificates were received. They also interviewed employees regarding compliance and effectiveness of rules and requirements established in the company. Following the audit, the auditors noted positive changes that have occurred at the enterprise. In the field of environmental management, installation of bird protection devices and special platforms for stork nests, an effective system for waste sorting and disposal in production, and a ban to purchase fluorescent (mercury) lamps were considered positive. The auditors honored the high level of competence and awareness of managers and personnel participating in the audit in terms of environmental and occupational safety. The program for educating schoolchildren on electrical safety and ecology, as well as successful experience in new processes and technologies implementation, including the work performance without disconnecting the power supply for customers, were recognized.

*ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization; OHSAS stands for Occupational Health and Safety Assessment System.
