In 2021, DTEK Donetsk Grids restored service to more than 2,000 front-line families
In January 2022, DTEK Donetsk Grids repaired the damage and restored the operation of the cable line that feeds the buildings on Solnechnaya street in the frontline village of Krasnohorivka, Maryinsky district. The company also inspected a 6 kV overhead line that supplies electricity to the settlements of Travnevoe and Gladosovo in the Bakhmut district. This line is often damaged by shelling. The energy workers have restored its operation several times already. To ensure a more reliable power supply for the residents of Gladosovo and Travnevoye, the company has planned repairs to the overhead line. As soon as all the required approvals are received, the company will immediately start this job.
“DTEK Donetsk Grids serves the Ukraine’s interests, shares the values of society and recognized that permanent and uninterrupted power supply is a key to comfort for all the people in the region. In 2021, our crews went to repair facilities near the demarcation line 18 times. We returned electricity to 2,185 families living in the frontline zone. And in 2022, we will keep doing our best so that all our customers have electricity,” said Oleksii Degtyarev, Head of DTEK Donetsk Grids.
Since the frontline villages are in the gray zone, it was needed to get additional coordination with the Joint Center for Control and Coordination on Ceasefire Issues and involve representatives of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the OSCE to do the repairs.
It should be noted that the mechanism for doing repairs near the buffer zone is regulated by the relevant Procedure set in force by the Combined Forces Commander’s decree. It says that it is possible to do the emergency restoration work in the front-line zone only if there are bilateral guarantees of the cease-fire.
Electricity supply is a vital service, especially for people in the front-line settlements. In 2021, DTEK Donetsk Grids restored the operation of three high-voltage lines, nine lines of medium-low voltage and 99 transformer substations damaged because of shelling. The company restored service in 2,185 households of the front-line zone.
In total, since the beginning of military actions in this area, DTEK Donetsk Grid restored the power supply at substations and power lines over 16,000 times.
