Power grid in the Novokodatsky District of Dnipro is being upgraded

DTEK Dnipro Grids is running a large-scale reconstruction of electric grids in the Novokodatsky District in Dnipro. The company is about to complete the replacement of more than 7 kilometers of 10 kV overhead electric lines and 64 defective poles in the villages of Yasnoye, Taromskoye, Diyevka-2 and Sukhachevka. When this work is done, there will be fewer faults, and residents will receive an upgraded and reliable power grid.

The need for such an upgrade is dictated by the technical and moral obsolescence of the electrical infrastructure in these residential areas. The overhead lines were built here in 1959 and no longer meet the present-day requirements. The old poles began to collapse. In addition, part of the overhead lines runs in the forest zone and has repeatedly failed because of falling trees during bad weather. There were many faults, especially in autumn and winter. And it was quite challenging to recover these failures because it is hard to reach some poles and lines. Therefore, it was decided to completely renew them this year to ensure a reliable power supply.

DTEK serves the Ukraine’s interests and takes care of its customers by consistently transforming the energy infrastructure in the Dnipropetrovsk Region. As part of our repair program in the Novokodatskiy District of Dnipro, we are currently upgrading two lines of 3.8 km each. Also, we will replace the overhead lines with cable ones and lay them underground in the village of Yasnoye. This is crucial in terms of safety as they run close to the school and the small house suburb. When this project is done, 2,317 customers will get a present-day and safe power grid,” says Andrii Tereshchuk, Director General at DTEK Dnipro Grids.

New overhead lines are made of aerial bundled cable (ABC) with an increased cross-section. They are resistant to environmental exposure (rain, snow, sun, wind, tree branches), safe, and durable.

The company is doing this work only on weekdays. Contractors divided the work into sections of several streets, the disconnection of which alternates, to minimize inconvenience to residents and interruptions in power supply. We considered the feedback from the residents, so we shorten outage times to 6:00PM. The work will be finished in a week.

DTEK Dnipro Grids urges residents to be receptive to the need for such a network upgrade and the associated inconveniences. After all, such work is an urgent need, which will provide uninterrupted power supply and power in these areas in the future.

You can find out the precise work schedule on the company's website.

As previously reported, DTEK Dnipro Grids is investing over UAH 1 billion in the region's electrical infrastructure in 2021.
