Emergency shutdowns are taking place in the Dnipropetrovsk region

Emergency power shutdowns are taking place in Dnipro and Dnipropetrovsk region on January 11. This is a necessary step to avoid mass emergencies in the energy system due to overload.

The number of shutdowns increases for three reasons:

  • The frost is getting stronger and people use heaters more often, thus drastically increasing the load on the grids;
  • Industrial enterprises returned to work, causing an increase of electricity consumption;
  • The energy system is still recovering from attacks and has a significant power shortage;

We managed to minimize duration of shutdowns for the New Year holidays. Nevertheless, power shortage in the region has been increasing the last couple of days. Therefore, in order to support the energy system and avoid mass uncontrolled emergencies and outages we have to apply emergency power cutoffs,” – noted DTEK Dnipro Grids representative.

DTEK energy workers together with NPC Ukrenergo specialists, other emergency services and state authorities are doing everything possible to stabilize the situation as soon as possible.

Residents of the Dnipropetrovsk region are urged to treat electricity consumption as responsibly as possible in order to help the energy system. When the electricity is restored after a shutdown, electrical appliances are to be switched on in turn. This will help avoid emergencies due to the overload of the grids and maintain electricity in your and neighboring houses.
