The severe weather with strong winds up to 27 meters per second hit our country on January 14, causing line breaks and a lot of power outages across the Kyiv region. Ever since the bad weather started, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids energy workers have been working under no timeline to restore the power supply service to customers as soon as possible. Over the day, power supply was restored in 162 cities and villages, which lost power completely, and in 209 ones, which lost power partially. The company restored the operation of 155 lines and 3,620 transformer substations.

DTEK is a reliable and responsible company that cares about its customers. Our energy workers are still eliminating the consequences of bad weather. The most challenging situation is in the Baryshev, Boryspil and Vyshgorod power centers, where trees fell and broke wires. 75 company crews and contractors are involved to do the job in the region. We are making every effort to return the light to our customers' homes in no time,” said Vitaliy Shayda, Head of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.

As of 08.00 AM, 107 settlements are still without power supply, and 127 ones are without power partially. Wind gusts entailed the de-energization of 112 power lines of 6-10 kV and 1,937 transformer substations.

The company's energy workers restored the operation of 12 transmission lines of 6-10 kV and 168 transformer substations in the Baryshev energy center. 11 lines are still de-energized completely and 1 is de-energized partially. 186 transformer substations are still damaged there. In the Boryspil energy center, the company has already restored the operation of 15 transmission lines of 6-10 kV and 558 transformer substations. 9 lines are still completely de-energized and 4 are de-energized partially, 273 transformer substations are damaged there. In the Vyshgorod energy center, the operation of 23 transmission lines of 6-10 kV and 883 transformer substations was restored. 16 lines are still damaged, and 2 lines are de-energized partially there. The company still needs to restore the operation of 353 transformer substations.

Wires broken by falling branches and trees and fallen poles caused the most power outages. The energy workers are making every effort to restore the power supply after blackouts. But the weather is still quite challenging. The crews cannot use car lifts because of strong wind up to 27 meters per second. When fixing the line breaks on high-voltage towers, a heavy wind shakes them. Thus, it is unsafe for the energy workers to do the job at height. However, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids crews and contractors keep working in these difficult conditions under no timeline to eliminate all the consequences as soon as possible and ensure that our customers have a reliable power supply.

Severe weather conditions are still hitting the Kyiv region on January 15. According to weather forecasts, wind gusts up to 20 meters per second are expected (Category I hazard, yellow).

DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids also reminds of the need to comply with electrical safety rules. In strong winds, you should not be near power lines; do not approach broken wires closer than 8-12 meters, and in no case touch them. If you find wires that have fallen to the ground, broken or sagging wires, open doors and hatches of electrical installations, as well as damaged poles, please report this to the call center, through the Merezhi Online mobile app or DM us on the DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids Facebook page.

Information about outages can be checked on the company's website in the No power? section. If your address is there, that means that the company already knows about the outage and is busy restoring your power. If you did not find your address, please report a power cut either through the Merezhi Online mobile application (available in the AppStore and Google Play Market), or Viber and Telegram chatbot, or DM us on the DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids Facebook page.
