A fire hazard has been declared in the region: 5 advices from DTEK Dnipro Grids

According to the regional department of the State Emergency Service, there will be an extremely high (class V) level of the fire hazard in the Dnipropetrovsk region on June 7-12. DTEK Dnipro Grids asks residents to be extremely careful and gives 5 advices related to electrical safety near power equipment.

Windy weather significantly increases the risk of fires and conflagrations. The company asks residents of the region to be extremely careful and cautious, refrain from starting a fire under power lines and not to interfere with the operation of power equipment. Beyond the risk to health and life, it can lead to large-scale fires, damage of the grids and shutdown of entire settlements and enterprises.

DTEK Dnipro Grids has drawn up 5 simple electric safety rules that can protect residents of the region from potential hazard:

  1. It is strictly forbidden to start a fire, burn deadwood, leave flammable materials and put garbage near power lines and transformer substations;
  2. Do not approach switchboards, transformers and other power equipment, and do not try to interfere with their operation;
  3. Avoid staying near power lines during strong wind. If you discovered a broken wire, please stay 8-12 meters away;
  4. In case of blackouts, do not try to perform repair by yourself. If a blackout happened in an apartment or house – call an electrician, servicing your house. If there is a blackout at the entire street – contact DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists;
  5. If you discovered fallen, broken or sagging wires, open doors and hatches of the power installations – do not approach them and inform the company;
