In July 2022, DTEK Grids has provided 66 young energy workers with their first job. They are students from 25 higher education institutions of Ukraine, who participated in the dual education project in the past academic year. Despite the war, the company has fulfilled its obligations, taken last year, to support talented Ukrainian youth during this difficult period.
During the war, DTEK Grids provided stable job and salary to 66 students

DTEK Grids Distribution System Operators employed 66 students in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa regions, as well as in the city of Kyiv. Last year they have studied under the dual education program, combining theory in the institute and industrial practice in the DTEK Grids Distribution System Operators. Such approach to education of future energy workers fits the Sustainable Development Goal of the UN Global Compact No. 8 – “Decent work and economic development”. Despite the martial law in the country, DTEK Grids has decided not to suspend implementation of this project, on the contrary – use it to support talented youth and Ukraine.

“DTEK Grids is a foundation for restoration of Ukraine and normal life of Ukrainians. The company continues to develop infrastructure of the grids based on the sustainable development principles. We have been implementing dual education project since 2019. In 2022, despite the difficult situation in the country due to war, we have employed 66 students. Today, this youth receives stable salary, all social guarantees and, most importantly, can plan their future in Ukraine,” noted DTEK Grids CEO Oleksandr Fomenko.

Over the past three years, 276 senior students from 25 leading specialized educational institutions of Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Kyiv regions and the city of Kyiv have participated in the dual education project. 156 of them have received both practical experience and job in the company.

“Dual education helped me quickly master the skills of the profession. We had practice in real conditions and on the modern equipment. But the most important is that immediately after completion of training I received my first official job in the chosen specialty in one of the largest energy companies of Ukraine,” – Yehor, DTEK Odesa Grids modes engineer, graduate of Odesa Polytechnic.

In 2022, recruitment for the project has resumed. In order to participate in the dual education program a student should be educating in a specialty related to power engineering, attending 2-4 year at one of the specialized educational institutions that concluded an agreement with the company, fill in the form and qualify. Acceptance of documents for the dual education lasts until October 1.

As stated earlier, DTEK Grids and Dnipro Polytechnic signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and opened an innovation hub for power engineering students.
