Electricity restored: DTEK energy workers restored power to 8,000 families after bad weather in the Dnipropetrovsk region
DTEK emergency crew in the Dnipropetrovsk region continue to work in the high alert mode to eliminate consequences of bad weather. Yesterday, energy workers managed to restore operation of 24 medium voltage lines and 202 transformer substations. Electricity has been restored to homes of 8,000 families, left de-energized due to bad weather. Since the beginning of bad weather on December 8, energy workers have restored power to a total of 44,000 families. Emergency crews worked 24/7 in the difficult weather conditions. More than 70 specialists and 33 items of machinery were engaged in repairs. Restoration activities were complicated by glaze ice and fog. As well as by dense layer of ice on wires, insulators and trees that created additional load on the power lines. Frozen branches that were falling under its weight caused collapse of poles and entire sections of lines. Recovery efforts are ongoing. As of the morning of December 14, about 3,500 homes remain without electricity. Energy workers put every effort to energize them as soon as possible. Reminder: today a storm warning was once again announced in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The Ukrainian Hydrometeorology Center expects gusts of wind of 15-20 m/s that may lead to new power outages. Please be careful, follow safety rules and do not approach the power lines.
