How to consume electricity reasonably and help the energy system of the country, – DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids advises

Energy workers throughout the country are working 24/7 to provide electricity to the homes of Ukrainians. But the enemy does not stop trying to leave us without power supply too. It is easy to help energy workers protect electricity in homes – just follow the rules of reasonable electricity consumption. DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids asks residents of the region to support the energy system.

The energy system is most vulnerable during the peak load hours: from 7:00 to 11:00 and from 18:00 to 24:00. These are the periods when we turn on most appliances, while getting ready for work in the morning or coming back home in the evening and doing household chores. And if everyone will use energy-consuming appliances at the same time, it may lead to overload and, thus, damage of the grids, causing emergencies.

This is easy to avoid: do not turn on powerful household appliances simultaneously, use them one by one. Appliances that consume the most electricity (over 1.5 kW-h) include: boiler, electric stove, hair dryer, iron. And if you turn on these appliances at night, you will also save on electricity payments.

This opportunity is provided by the “Day-Night” Meter. It registers volume of electricity consumption for day and night separately. Due to this, its owners pay for electricity less, as the cost of electricity from 23:00 to 7:00 is 50% less than during the other period of the day.

The fastest and the easiest way to order such meter is via the DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids website. When ordering from us, our specialists will do everything “turnkey”: programming the device for the day/night tariff, dismantling the old meter, installing and sealing the new one.

We also recommend replacing all lamps in your home with LED. They consume ten times less electricity than the incandescent lamps, while emitting the same amount of light. I.e., if you replace 10 lamps with LED, they will illuminate your room the same way but 10 new lamps will consume as much electricity as one old one.

Be smart about using electricity. Do not heat/cool rooms, where you are not currently present. Turn on the light only where you are.

By uniting efforts, we will be able to overcome any challenge!
