Over the course of a day, DTEK Donetsk Grids has restored electricity to 16,500 homes that suffered from shelling and bad weather

On September 16, DTEK Donetsk Grids emergency and repair crews were able to obtain a permit from the military and restore operation of power lines, damaged by shelling, in 30 settlements of the Donetsk region, thus restoring power to 9,500 families. Besides, energy workers have restored electricity to homes of 7,000 families, de-energized due to bad weather yesterday. Emergency crews commence restoration activities once it becomes possible in order to support residents of the region in this difficult situation.

Over the course of a day, specialists of the energy company have repaired a number of damaged grids and equipment, completely or partially restoring electricity to homes of residents of 30 settlements in the Donetsk region that were completely or partially de-energized due to hostilities, thus restoring power to 9,507 families in Pokrovsk, Kramatorsk and Bakhmut districts.

Despite increased shelling, energy workers managed to work in Avdiivka, Kostiantynivka, Marinka and Toretsk communities yesterday. These communities are located near the buffer zone and are subjected to constant artillery shelling and air assaults. For instance, according to the National Police, Avdiivka and Marinka communities were shelled again yesterday.

Blackouts due to hostilities were joined by blackouts due to bad weather. Last night, energy workers have restored power to more than 50 transformer substations in Pokrovsk, restoring electricity to almost 7,000 families. Currently, emergency crews continue to work on repair of about 90 more transformer substations in Pokrovsk district. This will make it possible to restore electricity to homes of about 5,000 more families.

Active hostilities are underway in the Donetsk region. The most difficult directions remain Avdiivka, Marinka, Toretsk, Bakhmut and Sloviansk. 92 settlements of the region remain without electricity. Energy workers will definitely restore electricity to all residents of the region once they obtain a permit for work performance from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
