“DTEK serves the Ukraine’s interests, takes care of its customers and does the best to ensure that their homes always have lights on, warmth and comfort. We recognize how important it is to restore the power supply to customers as soon as possible, especially during the New Year holidays,” said Oleksii Degtyarev, Head of DTEK Donetsk Grids. “I would like to note that in case of weather-related power outages, we are trying to restore high-voltage power lines, power lines and transformer substations supplying social facilities first, such as hospitals, boiler houses, kindergartens, schools. Then we proceed to requests sent by residents. Despite the challenging weather conditions, our energy workers were busy 24/7 restoring power supply to the homes of Mariupol residents. In total, we restored the power supply to 28,000 customers over this time."

Mainly, bad weather conditions caused the power cuts. Temperature drops with sleet and rains, which led to icing of lines, were hitting Mariupol all these days. The Central, Primorsky and Kalmiussky districts of Mariupol witnessed the most outages. 12 crews and 23 units of equipment, including 6 aerial platforms, worked daily to restore the power supply. The company involved more teams and equipment from the Nikolsky and Mangushsky divisions to bring the power back as soon as possible.

The situation was quite challenging on Flotska street in the Primorsky district. There were a lot of 0.4 kV line breaks, plus, a 6 kV line failed. Its length is more than two kilometers. The company needed to deenergize the line several times to find the damage and remove it.

Now the company is fulfilling individual requests from residents. Over the holidays, more than 300 requests were completed. 58 were in progress as of Jan. 6. The company plans to complete the restoration by the end of the day.
