During the first week of August, DTEK Grids energy workers have restored electricity to almost 100,000 residents of Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions

Over the past week (August 1 through 7), specialists of the DTEK Grids Distribution System Operators have restored operation of the grids, damaged due to hostilities, for 95,000 families in 133 settlements of Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

In particular, hostilities remain most active in the Donetsk region. Last week alone, DTEK Donetsk Grids electricians have restored electricity to more than 81,000 residents of the region in 104 settlements of Bakhmut, Kramatorsk, Volnovakha and Pokrovsk districts. Due to intense shelling, destroyed grids require repair every day.

Additionally, shelling of Kryvyi Rih and Nikopol districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region became more frequent over the past week, causing more and more damage to the grids infrastructure. Overall, energy workers have restored power to almost 30,000 families in 29 settlements of the Dnipropetrovsk region during the week.

Let us recall that preliminary estimates show that restoration of the grids in the Kyiv region to the pre-war level of power supply quality and reliability will require investing about 1 billion hryvnas. Of which the company has already invested over 300 million hryvnas in restoration of electricity to residents of the Kyiv region. Another UAH 600-700 mln in perspective of 2022-2023 will be required for the second stage – restoration of the backup power supply that will help ensure reliable power supply of towns and villages, similar to the one prior to hostilities.

The company needs aid from government and international partners in the amount of about 1 billion hryvnas in order to fully restore infrastructure of the grids and develop it as per the plan and needs of residents of the region
