Over the course of a week, DTEK restored electricity to more than 111,000 families in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions and in the city of Kyiv
The majority of restorations are in the Dnipropetrovsk region, where, from July 8 to 14, electricity has been restored to 82,000 families, whose homes were de-energized due to enemy shelling. The majority – in the south of the region, which is close to the area of hostilities.
At the same time, active hostilities are ongoing in the Donetsk region. The enemy continues to destroy peaceful towns and villages, demolishing the energy infrastructure in particular. Despite all challenges and danger, caused by constant shelling, energy workers managed to restore electricity to homes of more than 28,600 families in the frontline region over the course of the week. Last week, an energy worker was wounded during restoration activities in the Donetsk region.
Kyiv suffered yet another enemy attacks too, which caused damage to grids and completely destroyed or damaged 3 transformer substations in Shevchenkivskyi and Holosiivskyi districts of the capital. A transformer substation that powered children’s hospital “Okhmatdyt” was completely destroyed too.
Once the security situation allowed, energy workers began inspecting equipment and restoring power supply. Most houses were promptly energized via backup power circuits. 1,100 families overall. Additionally, energy workers installed 3 temporary substations, switchgears and, by the morning of July 10, restored electricity to all buildings of “Okhmatdyt”.
“Energy workers continue to hold the energy front and provide Ukrainians with electricity despite all challenges and danger. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, we have already restored electricity to 13 mln* families in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa and Donetsk regions, and in the city of Kyiv. Some settlements close to the area of hostilities had electricity restored to them on dozens of occasions,” – noted Oleksandr Fomenko, CEO at DTEK Grids.
DTEK Grids energy workers are doing everything possible to eliminate damage as soon as possible. They commence work immediately after obtaining permission and access to the site of damage from the AFU and SES.
