  • Network Reconstruction and Modernization

Reconstruction of lines, technical re-equipment, new modern equipment are aimed to improve the power supply quality. In 2020, DTEK Donetsk Grids reconstructed 11 transformer substations and 9 distribution points in Mariupol, Volnovakha, Konstantinovka, Pokrovsk, Slavyansk, Druzhkovka, Mangushsky district. New equipment was installed at 110 and 35 kV substations in Mariupol, Myrnohrad, Dobropolye. The company also reconstructed more than 14 km of power lines in the Toretsky District. Another large-scale project of the year is the upgrading of two high-voltage lines 110 kV "Kotlyarevskaya - Zhelannaya" and "Kotlyarevskaya - Ocheretino". Power supply to Avdiivka and 21 localities has become more reliable, the risk of emergency outages has decreased.

The company is busy developing remote service channels for effective and safe communication with customers in a pandemic. DTEK Donetsk Grids processed more than 740 thousand requests from customer. 80% of them were submitted through remote communication channels. In 2020, new online services were introduced:

  • Home PV power plants

In 2020, the company connected 247 new facilities. In total, there are 635 prosumers in Donetsk

According to the Dnipropetrovsk Hydrometeorology Regional Center, between January 16 and 20, a significant cooling is expected down to - 10 -15 degrees in the daytime and -16 -21 degrees at night, as well as an increase in wind because of the Arctic air dominating in the region. Bad weather can lead to blackouts across the region.

DTEK Dnipro Grids also reminds of the need to comply with electrical safety rules: in case of strong winds, you should not be near power lines; do not approach the broken wire closer than 8-12 meters and in no case touch it. If you find wires fallen to the ground, broken or sagging, open doors and hatches of electrical installations, as well as damaged supports, please report to the call center.

On average, each prosumer can provide clean electricity to up to 10 households. Most of these home power plants operate in Mariupol, Slavyansk, Mangushsky, Nikolsky districts.

  • Smart Technologies

DTEK Donetsk Grids went on installing advanced smart meters that transmit electricity readings themselves. At the same time, customers can save on electricity bills due to the night tariff (twice as cheap). In 2020, the company installed 1,068 such modern metering devices for Mariupol residents for free. Now there are more than 46 thousand customers provided with smart metering devices in Donetsk Region.

  • Nest platforms for stork and reliable power supply for customers

In 2020, DTEK Donetsk Grids installed seven artificial nest platforms for white storks in Bakhmutsky, Dobropolsky, Velikonovoselkovsky and Nikolsky Districts. Such structures installed on the lines enhance the reliability of power supply and help to avoid emergencies and power outages. Now, there are 15 such platforms installed across Donetsk Region, helping to protect the birds listed in the Red Book of Ukraine from death, and protecting their nests from destruction.
