DTEK Dnipro Grids gave 5 tips for turning on electrical appliances correctly after stabilization power cutoffs and emergency power outages

Thermal power generation31 October 2022
In accordance with NPC Ukrenergo order, stabilization power cutoffs or emergency power outages periodically occur in the Dnipropetrovsk region in order to support the energy system. Upon restoration of power supply after such events, all consumers immediately turn on powerful electrical appliances. This leads to simultaneous significant load rise and emergencies on the grids, once again leaving residents without electricity. Although this time – due to an emergency rather than a stabilization cutoff. In order to avoid this, DTEK Dnipro Grids asks its customers to follow simple rules of reasonable consumption.
DTEK Dnipro Grids gave 5 tips for turning on electrical appliances correctly after stabilization power cutoffs and emergency power outages

Five recommendations from DTEK Dnipro Grids for turning on electrical appliances correctly after stabilization power cutoffs and emergency power outages:

  • In case of a blackout due to scheduled stabilization cutoff, please disconnect all energy-consuming appliances from the grid: washing machines, kettles, boilers, electric heaters, electric heating, electric stoves. Additionally, switch the light off in rooms, where people are currently absent;
  • After the electricity is restored, do not switch all energy-consuming appliances (heaters, boilers, electric stoves, electric kettles, etc.) simultaneously. If you have several energy-consuming appliances at home, please connect only one of them to the grid at a time and connect the other one only after mandatory disconnection of the previous one;
  • Please program energy-consuming appliances with a turn-on timer to work during nighttime from 00.00 to 06.00 in the morning;
  • We recommend consumers, who use electric motors and pump stations, to disconnect them from the grid (electric motors give a very high load on the grid during its start). Connect them to the grid 20-30 minutes after resumption of electricity supply;
  • We ask business customers to stop using exterior lighting of facades of offices, restaurants, malls;

This is now the best support of energy workers, who are working 24/7 and are doing everything possible to ensure that everyone has electricity at home.

Let us remind that in case of a command from NPC Ukrenergo to apply stabilization power cutoffs, DTEK Dnipro Grids does everything possible for power cutoffs not to exceed 4 hours for each customer. However, it may repeat over the course of a day in 4 hours, if Ukrenergo does not cancel application of stabilization cutoffs.

Please note: there may be a minor time inaccuracy of additional 30-40 min, required for reconnection of power supply between groups.

The list of settlements that may be covered by such cutoff and a corresponding schedule are available on a DTEK Dnipro Grids website. Please, follow the updates.

Please note that emergencies on the distribution grids may also occur for various reasons (overloads, damage by unauthorized persons, etc.), leaving our consumers without electricity. If after cancellation of a stabilization cutoff you are still without electricity – please, inform us about it via communication channels: Viber and Telegram bot, our social network Facebook pages. We will do everything necessary to eliminate an emergency and restore electricity to you.

Take care! We believe in victory!
