DTEK Odesa Grids to completely reconnect almost 35,000 customers to the reconstructed Chumka substation

DTEK Odesa Grids completed the reconstruction of the Chumka transformer substation. The company has already transferred capacities to new equipment, which will improve the quality of power supply and reduce the response time to emergency outages. The substation has already connected almost 35,000 customers living in Blizhnye Metnitsy, Sakhalinchik, Moldovanka (Vorontsovka), as well as in the historical center of the city. The substation is connected to such socially important buildings as the main pumping station "Infoxvodokanal", the buildings of the regional state administration, the Primorsky District administration, the maternity hospital, clinics, educational facilities, kindergartens, etc.
DTEK Odesa Grids to completely reconnect almost 35,000 customers to the reconstructed Chumka substation

DTEK is a reliable and conscious company that serves the interests of Ukraine. We have completed the reconstruction of the Chumka transformer substation, which was started in 2017. Reconstruction investments amounted to UAH 456 million. The reconstructed substation provides additional opportunities for the development of energy infrastructure in the historical part of the city. Now 34,971 customers have been reconnected to Chumka in full,” says Oleksandr Fomenko, CEO of DTEK Odesa Grids.

Until recently, the Chumka Substation had equipment that was assembled in the middle of the last century. DTEK has reconstructed the substation. The company has installed equipment that meets the requirements of a modern metropolis. At the substation, two power transformers were replaced with modern ones, with a capacity of 80 MVA each and a voltage of 110/35/6 kV. The company also adjusted the work of telemechanic, communications and an automated system for commercial metering of electrical energy. These measures will provide full remote control of the installed equipment and reduce the response time to power cuts.

The company installed vacuum circuit breakers at the reconstructed Chumka substation. Such breakers are environmentally friendly, as they do not contain petroleum products and do not harm the environment. And they meet the highest fire safety requirements.

As a reminder, in 2021, DTEK Odesa Grids allocates more than UAH 483 million to renew the Odesa network and equipment that ensures its operation. These funds will be used to reconstruct the existing and build new transformer substations, cable, and overhead lines. The company does this to improve the quality and reliability of power supply to residents of Odesa.
