DTEK Odesa Grids has renewed its fleet of specialized vehicles. Maintenance crews for cable lines and transformer substations received 28 units of new specialized equipment. Such vehicles consume less fuel, so they do not create an additional burden on the ecology of the region. They are also maneuverable and capable to perform off-road tasks, so that accidents on electric lines would be eliminated faster.

In 2020, DTEK Odesa Grids purchased 7 Mercedes Benz Sprinter team vans with a 4x4 wheel arrangement, 2 Ford Transit mobile van labs, an Iveco Tracer 6x6 Trakker unit, a 35t Palfinger truck crane based on MAZ, 9 Mitsubishi L200 vehicles, 2 Iveco TRACKER dump trucks, 7 BKM-2M on the T-150 chassis. The company earmarked funds to purchase these units in the investment program for 2020.

“DTEK is a conscious business. We are upgrading our technical infrastructure so that our crews can repair cable lines more quickly, and our customers are not staying without light for too long because of accidents,” – says Aleksandr Fomenko, DTEK Odesa Grids CEO.

In total, our maintenance crews have use over 60 vehicles. DTEK Odesa Grids plans to renew a significant part of them in 2021.

Mercedes Benz Sprinter vans with 4x4 wheel arrangement will help power engineers to arrive at their destination faster and connect new consumers more efficiently, repair cable lines and equipment of electrical substations, transformer substations and distribution points. The Iveco Trakker tractor will be used to transport poles of 16 to 22 m height.

The ETL-10 mobile lab based on the Ford Transit vehicle will help specialists find damage to the cable lines insulation in Izmail Power Networks, and the ETL-35 electrical laboratory will facilitate testing network equipment in Odesa.

New vehicles are more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly. They use half the fuel per 100 kilometers of the route, and are certified according to Euro-5environmental standards. This means they pollute the environment less.

DTEK Odesa Grids also built a specialized car wash. Thanks to its special design, it is possible to clean large vehicles in it. This car wash is equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment to perform high-quality cleaning, while significantly reducing the use of chemicals.
