DTEK restored electricity to almost 100,000 families, left without it due to the storm in the Kyiv region
On June 29, heavy rain, thunderstorm and squally wind gusts up to 20 m/s left 215 settlements in the Kyiv region completely without electricity and 312 – partially, thus damaging 266 overhead lines and 5,193 transformer substations. The storm caused most of the damage in Baryshivka, Boryspil, Brovary, Vasylkiv, Obukhiv and Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi energy centers.
In order to promptly eliminate emergencies on the grid, caused by the storm, and restore electricity to residents of the Kyiv region, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids emergency crews were transferred to the enhanced operating mode. Additional repair and maintenance crews were engaged in these activities. These crews will continue working until complete restoration of power to the customers. DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids has engaged a total of 127 crews to eliminate consequences of the storm.
On June 29, electricians have already managed to restore electricity to almost 100,000 families in 126 completely de-energized settlements and in 143 partially de-energized ones.
By the morning of June 30, 89 settlements remain completely without electricity and 169 — partially. Thunderstorm and wind gusts left 96 power lines of 6-10 kV completely without electricity and 46 — partially, as well as 2,072 transformers substations.
The crews continue to work 24/7 in order to restore electricity as soon as possible.
First, specialists restore power to socially significant consumers, such as hospitals, industrial facilities, large areas with the largest number of de-energized buildings and apartments. Also, a priority is given to the repair of 35-110 kV high-voltage lines, which power most customers, then to 6-10 kV lines. When high and medium voltage power facilities are restored, company’s specialists will proceed to 0.4 kV lines that directly feed customers' homes.
