Minimizing effect on the environment: how DTEK Dnipro Grids introduces ESG principles

Sustainable development, energy efficiency, environmental protection are the key priorities of DTEK Dnipro Grids. In 2024, energy workers replaced 23 oil circuit breakers with the vacuum ones, handed over 726,000 tons of scrap metal and more than a hundred kilograms of plastic for recycling. The work on environmental initiatives will continue in 2025.

DTEK Dnipro Grids introduces environmental initiatives, which correspond to the UN sustainable development goals and ESG principles. 

International standard ISO 14001 is in force at the enterprise, ensuring systematic approach to arrangement of business processes while meeting the principles of environmental safety. 

In 2024, the company was replacing oil filled equipment to avoid using oil and creating oily waste. Despite the challenges of war, in 2024 energy workers replaced 23 oil circuit breakers with the vacuum ones with dry dielectric. Additionally, 14 helium accumulator batteries that do not require maintenance were installed at the enterprise.

DTEK Dnipro Grids installed 1,649 modern LED lamps, thus reducing energy consumption and improving energy efficiency of its offices and industrial premises 

Due to the principles of circular economy, energy workers reduce the volume of industrial waste. In 2024, the company handed over more than 726,000 tons of scrap metal and 13 tons of tires for recycling, thus reducing the environmental footprint of the enterprise

Energy workers continue to implement the environmental and educational project #EnergyWings, directed at preservation of white stork as an important part of the Ukrainian ecosystem. In 2024, 13 platforms for stork nests were installed in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Additionally, the company takes part in the international project of the Polish Ornithological Society Małopolskiego Towarzystwa Ornitologicznego on ringing of nestlings. It helps ornithologists study migration and behavior of storks, while ensuring their protection. In 2024, 74 nestlings were ringed in Tsarychanka community of the Dnipropetrovsk region. 

DTEK Dnipro Grids also implements environmentally safe system of waste sorting and recycling. Over 1,000 containers for sorting of forty types of used materials were installed at all industrial sites. 

Employees are actively engaged in the environmental initiatives. In 2024, within the framework of thePrecious plasticproject, 108 kg of plastic were handed over for recycling to be used for manufacturing of benches, chairs, accessories, etc. 

In 2025, DTEK Dnipro Grids will continue developing environmental initiatives, reducing effect on environment and introducing even more solutions for sustainable development.
