DTEK upgraded 538 power facilities in order to prepare Kyiv for winter

DTEK Kyiv Grids is finishing preparation of Kyiv for the upcoming winter. Energy workers, in the conditions of wartime, have already upgraded 538* important power facilities and 76 kilometers of the overhead power lines. Together these measures will improve reliability of power supply during the heating season.

Preparation of the city for the upcoming winter is ending in Kyiv. Together with local authorities, all services are preparing the infrastructure for all possible challenges in order to ensure that citizens have access to the essential services, as well as to electricity and heating. DTEK Kyiv Grids energy workers, in their turn, are preparing the grids of the capital for winter. They have upgraded 538 power facilities of various voltage class, repaired 3,942 cable lines and 76 kilometers of power lines.  

“DTEK Kyiv Grids is a foundation and support for normal life of the region and our customers. We engage all available internal resources to pass the next winter and complete the repair program. Moreover, we have created a backup emergency stock and formed 173 crews that are ready to restore power supply after emergencies 24/7. We are working to protect our key facilities as much as possible. Our energy workers are ready to promptly restore power supply and provide electricity to all residents of the capital,” – summed up Denys Bondar, CEO at DTEK Kyiv Grids. 

The current state of the distribution grid allows to provide all customers with stable power supply during winter loads, providing there will be no new enemy attacks on the energy system of the country. 

Overall, in order to improve reliability of the capital’s grids, Distribution System Operator will additionally upgrade 319 power facilities, repair 692 cable lines and 14 kilometers of the overhead lines by the end of the year. 

For customer convenience, the company has also improved service channels. Currently, there are 210 call center lines available. In the event of crisis situations and during the peak load hours, DSO will engage up to 70 operators per day. However, the company underscores that in order to promptly get information and services there are convenient remote online service channels functioning 24/7 – official website and Viber and Telegram chatbot.
