DTEK is a socially responsible company. Planting of greenery is part of DTEK's global and systematic policy on sustainable development within the UN Global Compact - the fight against climate change. Over the past 5 years, more than 4.5 thousand trees have been planted in Dnipropetrovsk Region within the DTEK's Green City project. This is our contribution to preserving the environment and shaping an ecological future for new generations,” says Andrii Tereshchuk, DTEK Dnipro Grids Director General.

During the campaign, DTEK Dnipro Grids employees planted pines, birches, lindens, decorative catalpa, as well as cedar and juniper. They followed all the quarantine rules, including wearing masks and social distancing of 1.5 meters. For example, about 30 tree seedlings were planted near the company's headquarters in Dnipro. The territory of the new substation called Naddnepryanska was decorated with young pines, and the Customer Service Center in the city center with juniper bushes.

The seedlings are from local forestry enterprises. November is the best time for planting. This way they will sooner take root, and will be bringing pleasure with their beauty for a long time,” says Alla Pavlova, an ecologist at DTEK Dnipro Grids.

Commitment to resources and environmental safety is one of the priorities of DTEK Dnipro Grids strategy. For several years, the company has been taking part in DTEK's volunteer projects called "Green City" and "Clean City". Traditionally, in the spring, employees clean plantings, hollows, parks, coastal zones in the cities of the region from garbage, and plant trees in the fall. Over the past five years, within the Green City project, employees of DTEK Grids DSOs have planted more than 5 thousand trees in Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Donetsk and Odesa regions.

In 2007, DTEK became a member of the UN Global Compact, the world's largest sustainable development initiative, which unites 9,200 companies and organizations from 166 countries. The essence of the agreement is voluntary adherence to 17 development goals. They are divided into three categories: environment, social, governance. The UN Sustainable Development Goals are integrated into the DTEK ESG strategy. In Environment section, DTEK Grids is responsible for addressing climate change.
